Dr. Brandon Hayes’ devotion explores our fifth core value. Each of our 5 core values provide the foundation of how we conduct ourselves and our work at Christian Family Solutions in response to God’s overwhelming love for us.

CORE VALUE #5

We are RESPONSIVE to the needs of our changing world. We use innovative, evidence-based methods and high standards of care to heal and help individuals. One of the most recognizable song lyrics from the 1970’s came from the song “Who are you” by the aptly-named band, The Who. For those of you who don’t know the lyrics from the chorus, they are pretty clever (if I might say so myself)…”Who are you? Who, who, who, who?” Jesus, in Mark Chapter 8, asks his disciples, “Who do people say I am?” His disciples’ responses clearly indicated that Jesus was something to many people. In fact, the responses highlight Jesus was many different somethings. For example, some individuals believed Jesus was John the Baptist. Others thought he was Elijah or one of the other prophets. What about you? Who are you? What about Christian Family Solutions? Who are we? What do we (as an organization) want to stand for? What do people think about who we are? Perhaps you’ve heard the expression, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for everything.” Clearly, our organization’s 5th Core Value helps shed some light onto who we strive to be. We strive to be RESPONSIVE to the needs of our changing world in order to provide comfort, support, resources, and guidance to those hurting souls placed in our lives. We strive to be purveyors of hope, not just in an earthly sense, but more importantly in an eternal sense. Paradoxically, I often find the “constancy” of God’s Word so essential to our ability to change and adapt to the needs of our changing world. That is, no matter what craziness is happening around us in today’s world, the most important things we offer are the never-changing promises from God’s Word. No matter what the newest treatment intervention is, we must never forget the power and grounding of God’s Word. As we continue to identify, adapt, and respond to the needs of our ever-changing world, let us regularly focus our hearts and minds on the constant promises and words of comfort found in Scripture. It is my prayer that we are continually reminded of Christ as the constant “something” in our work to help those we serve.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, daily provide us opportunities to share your never-changing grace and comfort. Use us as humble servants, both to serve you and those you place in our lives, to reflect the peace and calm that come from your promises.

QUESTION:

1) What is one way each day you can reflect God’s never-changing promises in your life?
