Specializes in anxiety, depression, grief, attachment, ambiguous loss and trauma/neglect/deprivation.
Andrea holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College in Madison, following her earlier Bachelor’s degree from UW–Madison. She began her career as a Physician Assistant, specializing in critical care and surgery, before choosing to pursue marriage and family therapy after raising her five children, one with a disability.
Andrea believes that our deepest desire is to be known, seen, heard, and loved—but for most of us, as broken people in a broken world, this hasn’t been our experience, nor does it always feel possible. She has a passion for walking alongside those who are hurting—individuals, couples, or families—and helping them navigate the pains of life, including trauma, deprivation, and loss. These challenges often give rise to anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship difficulties, which Andrea seeks to address with her clients.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist and former Physician Assistant in critical care and surgery, Andrea brings a unique, firsthand understanding of the intense pressures faced by healthcare professionals. She has a special interest in helping medical providers navigate burnout, secondary trauma, and compassion fatigue, offering a safe space for healing, resilience, and reconnection. At the same time, she supports clients who are facing medical crises of their own—such as a cancer diagnosis or chronic illness—helping them cope with the emotional and mental health challenges that often accompany such experiences. Her approach blends evidence-based therapy with deep insight into the emotional realities of both providing and receiving medical care. Andrea’s desire is to support clients in finding renewed meaning both personally and professionally and to assist them in building coping and self-compassion skills to manage the difficulties of daily challenges.
Her therapeutic style is systemic, viewing individuals as part of a larger context that influences their experiences. She emphasizes collaboration and respect, focusing on the dignity of each person, as valued by the Lord. She respects the client as the expert of their own story, while bringing compassion and care, hope and help to the process—integrating the entire person in healing and change: body, heart, soul, and mind. Andrea has been trained and certified as a Murray Method provider, helping people create wholeness beyond trauma, abuse, and neglect. Using “inner child” insight, the client is able to learn more about themselves and how to help themselves heal and become a healthy, balanced person.
