TBRI® Caregiver Training: Connecting Principles

Length: 6 hours (may be broken down into two 3-hour sessions or three 2-hour sessions)
Intended Audience: Caregivers of vulnerable children, particularly those who have experienced trauma, including children who were adopted or in foster care
Cost: $1,500 MAP Members / $2,100 non-MAP Members (plus expenses)

Description: This course focuses on the Connecting Principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®). TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

Note: If this training is presented to a group that does not work with a child or children who are clients of CFS, advance permission will need to be obtained from the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development.

Intended Audience: Caregivers of vulnerable children, particularly those who have experienced trauma, including children who were adopted or in foster care

Description: This course focuses on the Correcting Principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®).TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. Correcting the behaviors of vulnerable children can be challenging, as traditional methods of discipline may increase fear and trigger further behavioral challenges. This course shows how to correct behaviors while still providing felt safety to the child.

Note: If this training is presented to a group that does not work with a child or children who are clients of CFS, advance permission will need to be obtained from the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development.

TBRI® Caregiver Training: Empowering Principles

Length: 6 hours (may be broken down into two 3-hour sessions or three 2-hour sessions)
Intended Audience: Caregivers of vulnerable children, particularly those who have experienced trauma, including children who were adopted or in foster care
Cost: $1,500 MAP Members / $2,100 non-MAP Members (plus expenses)

Description: This course focuses on the Empowering Principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®). TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. Learning the many ways it is important to meet the child’s physical needs is fundamental in order to later implement the Connecting and Correcting Principles.

Note: If this training is presented to a group that does not work with a child or children who are clients of CFS, advance permission will need to be obtained from the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development.

Using TBRI in the School Setting

Length: 6 hours (may be broken down into two 3-hour sessions)
Intended Audience: All school professionals
Cost: $1,500 MAP Members / $2,100 non-MAP Members (plus expenses)

Description: This workshop teaches school professionals how to use the evidence-based practice of Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) to create trauma-informed schools and classrooms. The training focuses on the principles of connecting with, empowering, and correcting children in ways that help them feel safe, develop resilience, and respond to instruction in a positive way, with fewer “fight-flight-freeze” responses. By using TBRI, school staffs can help children heal from previous traumas and successfully learn.

Note: This training is best delivered in person. The workshop can be offered to schools who have partnership agreements with Christian Family Solutions; the presenter will request permission to do this training in other schools as needed.
