Kara Witthuhn

Treatment Focus:

Kara specializes in supporting families as a Family Peer Specialist and provides school-based services that promote the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of students in 3K through 8th grade. She offers short-term, solution-focused support and helps connect families with additional resources as needed. Her approach integrates behavior intervention grounded in attachment and regulation, along with trauma-informed psychoeducation. Kara also provides guidance through mediation and case management, walking alongside families as they build healing environments and strengthen their relationships. 

Bio:

Kara joined Christian Family Solutions in 2022. She holds a degree in psychology and a minor in sociology with a social work emphasis from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point (2000). Kara is a Certified Parent Peer Specialist (CPPS) through the state of Wisconsin and a Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) Practitioner through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. She is also a certified trainer for Youth Mental Health First Aid through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Kara has more than 20 years of experience working with children and families, including foster care support and as an in-home parent educator to families involved in the child protective services system. In addition to her professional experience, Kara brings valuable "on the job" experience as a parent. She and her husband are parents to three children of their own—now ranging from teenagers to young adults—and have also cared for up to four additional children at a time through their role as licensed foster parents.

Kara seeks to build trusting relationships as she walks alongside others, offering support and encouragement on the journey toward growth and wellbeing. She also desires to share the comfort and peace found in God’s promises and the reassurance of His unconditional love for each of us.
