Bio:

Shawna earned her master's degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, WI, in 2013. Throughout her career in mental health, she has worked across various levels of care, serving children, adolescents, and adults. She joined the Online Day Treatment program at Christian Family Solutions in May 2025 and provides services to participants.

In her role, Shawna leads group therapy sessions and provides individual and family therapy for clients ages 11 to 18 enrolled in the Online Day Treatment program. She supports adolescents navigating a range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges in both structured group environments and one-on-one sessions.

Shawna specializes in art therapy and developed a curriculum specifically for the online format during COVID-19, tailored for both adults and teens. She now brings her expertise to Christian Family Solutions, where she also incorporates evidence-based practices from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with day treatment patients. As a compassionate, person-centered therapist, she is committed to meeting each client where they are, fostering a safe, non-judgmental space for healing and growth. Her therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Passionate about supporting teens through life’s complex challenges and stressors, Shawna recognizes that adolescence can be an overwhelming time marked by identity development, academic pressures, shifting social dynamics, and emotional ups and downs. Her goal is to help young people build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and discover their strengths so they can reach their full potential. Whether navigating difficult emotions, relationship issues, or past experiences, Shawna walks alongside her clients on their journey toward healing and self-discovery—working together to create meaningful change that honors their authenticity and supports their overall well-being.
