Melissa’s passion is working alongside individuals, couples, and families on their journey towards authentic and holistic health, wholeness, and happiness. Melissa specializes in couples counseling.
Melissa is a former U.S. Marine and her spouse is retired U.S. Navy and enjoys working with military families, veterans, and first responders. Melissa also has both personal and professional experience with blended / step-families. Every individual and their family is unique and so is their journey.
Melissa’s particular areas of interest include: ADHD, anxiety, depression, pregnancy (teen / crisis), child development, parenting concerns, couples therapy, premarriage and marriage counseling, identity and self-esteem struggles, social-emotional skills, healthy communication, and relational and behavioral difficulties.
Melissa utilizes many different interventions from different techniques based on a client’s individual needs and goals including: Art, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, Mindfulness-Based, Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based, and Spirituality techniques. Melissa believes that faith and spirituality can play a vital role in the counseling and healing process.
Melissa’s approach to therapy is Christian, collaborative, systemic, and holistic. Melissa strives to be compassionate and non-judgmental and to validate her clients in order to empower her clients in their growth and change.
