Treatment Focus:

John is interested in helping people across the expanse of mental health, with a particular focus on anxiety and depression, attachment, grief, and transitioning through stages of life; he aims to work with individuals from adolescence to older adults, couples, and families, creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, heard, and find hope to grow towards change, drawing from his background as a former pastor with a faith-informed approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Bio:

John, a clinical intern at Christian Family Solutions, is currently pursuing his graduate studies in the Clinical Counseling Program at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. With a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern College - Watertown and a Master of Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, John brings a wealth of experience to his role, having spent 25 years as a pastor before transitioning into education and counseling.

In addition to teaching high school Psychology and Humanities courses, he serves as the Director of Student Development at a private school. Beyond his professional endeavors, John is also an accomplished stained glass artist, believing in the power of the arts as a coping mechanism in our chaotic world—a perspective he hopes to integrate into his counseling practice.
