Al is currently a counseling intern at Christian Family Solutions. He is attending Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) in Mankato, Minnesota, pursuing his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. He has his M-Div from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin and is also a full-time pastor with a passion for helping people reach their fullest potential in life. He started pursuing this degree in counseling because of a strong desire to help individuals on the emotional level as well as physical and spiritual levels.

One of Al’s fascinations is connecting the biblical insights of God’s Word with the proven scientific insights of the clinical mental health profession. He is interested in working with individuals who are experiencing uncertainty and anxiety due to life circumstances and the increased stressors of the 21st century lifestyle. Al has worked with numerous cultural backgrounds while living in China, Taiwan, and Ukraine; his cultural interest has helped him in his role as pastor, working with immigrants from India, Cambodia, Nigeria, China, and more.

Al’s approach to counseling is collaborative, systemic, and non-judgmental. He believes that each person has great potential, given to them by God Himself. He loves working alongside people to engage with them and excite them about a more feasible, forward-focused life. As a believer and realist, he recognizes that great opportunities and great disappointments converge in a person’s life. Faithful counselors can assist clients in navigating life’s challenges and accessing the potential which God creates in each human life. We are all a mix of the physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational— Christian Family Solutions engages all these aspects of our human existence.
