Specializes in working with adults that have survived childhood trauma; adolescent and adult adoptees; those dealing with persistent depression, anxiety, and panic disorders; attachment issues in adolescence and adulthood; adult ADHD; and minor obsessive compulsive disorder.
Dr. Laura Riness began working for Christian Family Solutions in May 2017. Prior to that, Dr. Riness worked as a psychotherapist at a local mental health clinic, and has been employed as an adjunct faculty member at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and Rasmussen College, Mankato.
Dr. Riness earned a BS in Human Development, Child and Family Studies, from South Dakota State University, Brookings; an MS in Professional Community Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato; and a PhD in Psychology from Capella University, Minneapolis (and online). She is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
Dr. Riness has worked with males and females, adolescents, families, couples, individuals, those experiencing major life adjustments, and the bereaved. She especially likes working with adults in mid-life (ages 35 to 65) as they go through periods of challenge and transition. Dr. Riness works with adult survivors of childhood trauma; adolescent and adult adoptees; those dealing with depression, anxiety, and panic disorder; attachment issues in adolescence and adulthood; adult ADHD, and minor obsessive compulsive disorder. She also has experience working with individuals on matters of sexual identity. Dr. Riness strongly believes in following Christ’s example and using it as a guide for how to interact with others.
