Bio:

Abbey Van Boxtel joined CFS in 2017 as an Intern. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She is currently in the process of earning her Master’s of Social Work with a specialization in Substance Abuse and Trauma-Informed Care. Her first internship was at Penfield Children’s Center in the Behavior Clinic, where she practiced in-home behavioral therapy with very young children (ages 1-5) who were displaying challenging behaviors largely due to traumatic experiences they had encountered. This work was with children and their caregivers simultaneously.

Abbey’s work at CFS has been primarily with children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD, behavioral concerns, stress management, self-esteem, and anger management issues, as well as with caregivers who request or require additional skills/support for parenting.

When working with clients, Abbey strives to mirror God’s love and truly engage and connect with her clients to work together, utilize their strengths, and meet them where they are in their lives.
