Bader Philanthropies Inc. Supports the Milwaukee Student Assistance Program
December 13, 2016 (Germantown, WI)—WLCFS-Christian Family Solutions is thrilled to announce that Bader Philanthropies Inc. has awarded our Student Assistance Program a grant for $25,000. The purpose of the grant is to provide onsite counseling services to students in Milwaukee urban schools who struggle with stress, anger, depression, trauma, and other issues that impact mental health.
Ryan Mattek, Ph.D., is the program director for Christian Family Solutions’ Child and Adolescent Day Treatment Program at HOPE Christian School: Semper in Milwaukee. He says, “As a former teacher in one of our inner-city schools, I saw for myself that these children growing up in traumatic circumstances have greater needs than can be addressed by a teacher in a classroom between 8:00 am and 3:15 pm. We are so grateful to Bader Philanthropies because their support is critical in providing professional counseling services to students who have been deeply affected by traumatic circumstances in their homes and communities. By bringing the services right into the schools, our counselors can work with students to provide the emotional care that they need so they can begin to reach their academic and personal goals. The services change their lives.”
The grant will be combined with other donations and grants and used to support counseling services currently being offered on-site at 15 Milwaukee-area urban schools. Since 2008, this program has provided critical services to over 2,300 students.
