However, they can also pose dangers and temptations that 21st-century kids and parents need to know about to have fun safely when using these technologies. In this seminar, participants will discuss ways to make the most of technologies while avoiding the pitfalls.

Specific topics addressed include the empowerment we receive from utilizing gratitude to structure personal thought processes, ways to implement gratitude thoughts and gratitude practices in everyday life, and the mental and physical benefits that come from this implementation. Finally, this presentation will explain how living in gratitude looks for Christians, in order to support God’s desire for his people to cultivate joy.

Bullying is hardly a new problem in our world. But with the advent of social media, bullying has taken on a new dimension. “Cyberbullying“ can affect kids via technology 24/7. In fact, 41% of teen girls report being bullied while online. What can kids do if they are being bullied? This presentation will discuss what children can do to confront the problem of bullying and help the victims by addressing the following:

 

  • What is bullying?
  • Why is it a problem?
  • The bully and the bullied.
  • What to do and what not to do if you are bullied.
  • What to do if you are the bully.
  • What to do if you are a witness.
  • What God says about bullying.

This presentation examines the problem of bullying by considering the definition and prevalence of bullying, and by profiling both the bully and the victim. Notes: In addition to being a 60-minute in-person presentation, this presentation can also be shortened to 30 minutes and delivered via video-conferencing, which would be perfectly suited to faculty meetings, circuit pastor gatherings, conferences, or other events. The presentation is practical and allows for questions and discussion.

Specific topics will include assertiveness, time management, self-care, and relaxation exercises. Opportunities to practice these techniques and receive feedback will be provided. The presentation will consist of a lecture format, including a PowerPoint slide show. In addition, the seminar may include small group discussions and opportunities for question and answer.
